Following their win against Bangladesh in the Basin Reserve in Wellington, the New Zealand cricket team actually stands to gain from the fact that if they get a positive result in the upcoming match at Christchurch. They will get the one point that they so richly deserve to go one position ahead of Pakistan who is currently in sixth place at the moment.

In spite of taking over the captaincy across all formats earlier this year, Kane Williamson has found it extremely difficult to get his team off to the momentum they need. However, the fact of the matter remains that they are on the trail to redemption in recent times following their wins against Pakistan and now the first Test against Bangladesh.

While Bangladesh has indeed been the beneficiary of a Test win, their first against England earlier this year. However, with injuries, their trains have seemingly derailed in recent times following the defeat at Wellington.

As for Pakistan, they now have lost 12 Test matches on the spin, something that has seen many question the presence of players such as Younis Khan in the side. Even Misbah-ul-Haq, the skipper of the side knows that his job is not safe and that he will have to take the delve into the retirement bandwagon in the months to come.

A tweet read: “If N Zealand wins the next Test against B’desh then it will move 1 point ahead of Pakistan into 5th place in the ICC Test rankings #Cricket.”
