New Zealand Women have bounced back strongly after the ODI series whitewash as they took a 2-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series against the South Africa Women. Batting first for the 2nd time in a row, the South African team got off to a good start. The visitors were aiming 150 when on 94/3 in the 14th over but were bundled out for only 119 as they lost their last seven wickets for 25 runs. Skipper Sophie Devine smashed a 43-ball 61 with three fours and five sixes as the hosts wrapped up the chase with 10 balls to spare.

New Zealand Women extend their winning streaks:

10 – New Zealand Women has won all the ten T20I matches at home starting from the one-off T20I win against Pakistan in 2016. They are only the 4th team in Women’s T20Is to win ten or more consecutive games. England Women won 13 in a row between 2011 and 2012 while Thailand Women have won all the 12 T20Is they played at home thus far. Australia Women also won ten successive T20Is at home in 2014.


7 – New Zealand Women also registered their 7th consecutive win in the T20I format; a streak that began during the 2018 Women’s WT20. This is their 3rd longest winning streak in T20Is behind the 12 successive victories during 2017-2018 and nine consecutive wins in 2010.


Devine continues her good run against South Africa:

5 – Sophie Devine has scored five half-centuries across seven T20I innings against South Africa Women. She is only the 3rd player with five or more 50+ scores against an opponent in Women’s T20Is. Stafanie Taylor (7 in 20 innings against Sri Lanka) and Meg Lanning (5 in 27 innings against England) are the other players with 5+ fifty-plus scores against an opponent in Women’s T20Is.


4* – Devine has scored fifties in each of the last four T20I innings against South Africa Women making her the first player with four successive fifty-plus scores against an opponent in the Women’s T20Is. Devine scored 73 and 68* during the 2018 Tri-Nation T20I series in England and unbeaten fifty in the first T20I of this series.


Priest moves up in the keepers’ chart:

72 – Number of dismissals by Rachael Priest in T20I cricket; the 3rd most by any keeper in Women’s T20Is. Alyssa Healy (75) and Sarah Taylor (74) are ahead of Priest in this list. The NZ keeper went past Merissa Aguilleira‘s tally of 70 dismissals with the three dismissals in the 2nd T20I.


A hat-trick of fifties for Devine:

3* – Sophie Devine now has scored a fifty in each of her last three T20I innings. She scored an unbeaten 54 in the 1st game of this series and 72 against India in the last year’s Hamilton T20I. Devine is only the 2nd player from New Zealand after Suzie Bates (3 in 2018) with a hat-trick of fifty-plus scores in Women’s T20Is.


8 – Sophie Devine has picked up at least one wicket in 8 matches where she scored a fifty in the T20Is. Across Men’s and Women’s T20Is, Devine is only the 4th player to score a fifty and take at least a wicket in 8 matches. Stafanie Taylor has achieved this double on 10 occasions while Shane Watson on nine instances. Suzie Bates also scored a fifty and took a wicket in 8 T20Is.
