Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has always had cheeky humor and he has shown a lot of that on Twitter in the recent past. As India and New Zealand waited for the final of the ICC World Test Championship to resume on day five, Vaughan took another sly dig at the Indian Cricket team.

After day four of the one-off match in Southampton was washed away, there was a slight delay in proceedings on day five with the slight drizzle coming down in the morning. The rain in this big contest has been quite frustrating. Day one of the match had been washed away due to rain and Vaughan went on to comment on the weather in South England, which is where Southampton is located, but he also had fired some bullets towards the Indian team.

“If this #worldtestchampionshipfinal been played up north they wouldn’t have missed a minutes play … #Justsaying #INDvsNZ !! NZ would have been champions by now,” Vaughan wrote on Twitter. This was posted before day five started, going into which New Zealand were 101 for 2, trailing by just 116 runs in the first innings.

India came back strongly in the morning session on day five

A couple of days back, when day one of the matches was washed away, Vaughan had posted a tweet suggesting that the weather had saved India from New Zealand. The former England captain has previously been caught in many such incidents where he has criticized the Indian team or wrote something on Twitter, which wasn’t something any Indian fan would be happy with.

Having said all of that, India made a resounding comeback in the first session of day five in the final of ICC World Test Championship. India picked up three crucial wickets of Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, and BJ Watling. At lunch, New Zealand was in a bit of a bother, at 135 for 5, still trailing by 82 runs.

Captain Kane Williamson continued his patient knock, being unbeaten on 19 off 112 balls. He was partnered with Colin de Grandhomme when the lunch was called. For India, Mohammad Shami picked up two wickets while Ishant Sharma picked up one, adding to his one wicket from day three.
