Nidahas Trophy has come alive after Bangladesh’s stunning victory over the hosts the other day as they gunned down the target of 215 runs in the last over thriller. It is all square now as India and Sri Lanka will lock horns in the second leg of the tournament and would be looking to register their second victory of the tri-series. The team fro island nation had got better of the Men in Blue in the last week when they had faced off in the first game. However, it would not be easy for this time around and expect fireworks from the visitors as well.
Sri Lanka lost the last game despite scoring in excess of 200 but they have a lid over India having beaten them in the opening encounter. They had caught the Indians off guard by some aggressive batting and would be looking to do the same on Monday as well. India, however, were clinical against Bangladesh and yet another perfect game might be awaiting them as they are high on confidence now.
Probable nature of the pitch
The pitches have been quite baffling so far in the three matches of the tournament. The strip for India’s game was a used one and it was slow. While the one used for the last game between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was a batting beauty. Most probably, they will use the same surface for the next match and expect it to be on the slower side which will bring the spinners into the game. The teams would prefer chasing after winning the toss as it has happened throughout the tournament.
Playing Combination
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka leaked the runs with the ball in hand and they would want to change a personnel or two in that aspect of the game. Their batting looks perfect at the moment with the likes of Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera in good form at the top of the order. Isuru Udana might come in place of either Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep who were expensive in the high-scoring thriller last night.
Probable XI: Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal (c & wk), Upul Tharanga, Dasun Shanaka, Thisara Perera, Jeevan Mendis, Akila Dananjaya, Dushmantha Chameera, Isuru Udana
India
India would be riding high after their easy win over Bangladesh and it is unlikely that they would be making any changes to their line-up. Though Rishabh Pant who has looked rusty so far with the bat might sit out to make way for the either KL Rahul or Deepak Hooda. Rohit Sharma would be itching to have a go as he has endured lean outings so far in the series. The bowlers should be able to retain their places following a decent show after being hammered by the same team last week.
Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (c), Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat
