England fast bowler Mark Wood has posted an image on Instagram after undergoing a successful elbow surgery which troubled him during the recently concluded Test series against West Indies. Wood pulled out midway through the first Test in Antigua after facing an “acute pain” in his right elbow and did not take part in the series after that. He was withdrawn from the IPL as well, while Andrew Tye was named as his replacement by the Lucknow Super Giants.

Wood has been in the form of his life lately as the speedster had a terrific Ashes where he finished as the leading wicket-taker for England with 17 wickets, despite his side suffering a 0-4 loss. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated that the procedure behind Wood’s surgery had involved removing bone and scar tissue. It has been learned from ESPNcricinfo that Wood will now go into rehabilitation with the ECB and Durham, and is likely to return towards the end of May.

Mark Wood expresses gratitude towards doctors

Wood, in an Instagram post, shared a photo of himself from the hospital after the surgery was completed. The fast bowler seemes quite elated with no more pain in his arm. The 32-year-old showed his gratitude to Professor Roger van Riet and Mr Ali Noorani for helping him out through the surgery without making him feel much pain.

“No more boney fragments in my arm!” “Thanks to Professor Roger van Riet and Mr Ali Noorani for sorting me out and all the staff who made me feel totally at ease,” Wood captioned on his Instagram post

“Langers, the England physio videoed me coming out of the anesthetic – Bah, I talk some absolute rubbish!!!” he added.
