The Indian Premier League has started already with a number of players hoping to change their lives through the tournament after being picked by the IPL franchises in the 2-day long period. However, the auction didn’t go well for the 28-year pacer, Varun Aaron. None of the side shown interest in the services of the pacer.

Aaron is set for a stint with English County side Leicestershire in the 2018 County Championship which he hopes will help him shape his career.

It was a shocker: Aaron on not being picked in the IPL

However, the fast-bowler says that not being picked was a shocking thing but he also claims that it is one of the best things that could’ve happened to him. While giving an interview over a mobile to Reuters, the bowler said, “I was not really thinking about whether I’d be picked or not in the IPL auction. “It was more a case of which team is going to pick me. But when it didn’t happen, it was a shocker for sure.”

Aaron said that it took him a while to recover as he has worked hard in the past but he soon realized that there were better things for him in the store. “When we talk after six months, then I can tell you that it’s the best thing to have happened to me. I really feel this might be the turning point,” Aaron said to the interviewer over the phone.

Wanted to skip IPL to play county cricket

Aaron said he had thought to skip the IPL to play county cricket but his coaches and colleagues suggested him not to do so as IPL is a very important part of the cricket calendar. “This year what happened is by default. County cricket is really competitive. I know that after I come out of this, what I’m bowling now is going to be maximized by a big margin,” said Aaron.

Aaron hoped that there won’t be injury trouble this time which has caused him a lot of trouble in his career. Aaron made his debut for India in 2011 but could only represent the country in 9 ODIs and as many Tests.
