Not showing emotions doesn't mean I don't have any intensity, says Shikhar Dhawan

No matter what the situation is, one rarely sees Shikhar Dhawan’s famous grin fading away from his face. It does not matter whether he scores a century or drops an absolute sitter on the field, Dhawan always looks in a happy mood. Unsurprisingly, it makes fans think that Dhawan is not too emotional on the field. However, the India star has now opened up on the issue and has dismissed all those speculations.

The southpaw has said that while he hardly shows any emotion on the cricket field, it does not mean he cares less on the field. Dhawan made it clear that ‘getting excited’ will not help the cause as he said that he plays with as much intensity as others. He also said that while he has attained the state of thehraav (Hindi word used for mental stability), he does not refrain from having fun like the way he used to have during the early days of his career.

“I hardly show my emotions. The intensity stays inside me,” Dhawan told The Times of India before adding: “Getting excited will not help. I like to have a clear mind but that doesn’t mean I don’t have any intensity. When I talk about thehraav, I still like to have fun the way I did during my Ranji days. I take my wife around for fun bike rides any time I want.”

A doting father, Dhawan has never shied away from speaking about his family and showering them with love. He has now once again highlighted his daughters and wife’s importance in his life, saying that they helped him channelise his energy. Dhawan also said he has become more focused after the marriage.

“I was lucky that with my wife came her two daughters. That helped me channelize my energy. I became less distracted, more focused. It has brought thehraav in my life,” said Dhawan.

The left-handed batsman, meanwhile, is currently gearing up for the upcoming World Cup. Dhawan is in good form at the moment and recently helped Delhi Capitals to make it to the playoffs.
