The opening ODI at the University Oval in Dunedin was pretty much one-way traffic in favour of New Zealand. Bangladesh were shot out for 131 after which the hosts chased the target down without much fuss. The Black Caps were clinical in all departments.
The second ODI is set to be played on Tuesday, March 23 at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch and the Kiwis would be looking for another win. In the first game, the Tigers were blown away by Trent Boult’s opening spell. Tamim Iqbal and Co need to up the ante in order to draw level in the series.
Out of 14 ODIs in New Zealand, Bangladesh are yet to register a victory. It goes without saying, in order to make a comeback, they will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Even with Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson, the Kiwis looked formidable.
Pitch and conditions
The pitch in Christchurch has been a belter for batting over the years. The average score at the venue is 275 and quite a few scores over the 300-run mark have been breached. Batting second should be the way forward. The temperature will be in between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius. There are no chances of rain.

Probable Top Performers of NZ vs BAN
Trent Boult (New Zealand)
Trent Boult became the Player of the Match in the first ODI as he picked up four wickets. In his first spell, he got rid of Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar to push the Tigers on the backfoot. Then he came back to brush off the tail. The speedster will be looking for another jaw-dropping spell of bowling next time.
Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh)
In the first ODI, Tamim Iqbal opened his account with a massive six over the point region after which he flicked Matt Henry off through the leg side. But then, Boult caught him plumb in front. Being the skipper, not only he has to motivate his team, but also take care of his own form with the willow in hand.
