After a comprehensive win in Dunedin, New Zealand had to work out of their skins to win the second ODI at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Bangladesh gave them a run for their money, setting a target of 272 and then picking three wickets up upfront. But the Black Caps came back to clinch victory on the back of a ton from skipper Tom Latham and a half-century from southpaw Devon Conway.
The Tigers had a chance of drawing the equalizer, but they couldn’t. The third ODI is set to take place on Friday, March 26, and all Tamim Iqbal and Co could do is evade a series whitewash. However, in order to do it, they have to win their maiden ODI on New Zealand soil. Moreover, the visitors could look forward to gaining some points in the Super League and end the series on a positive note.
Pitch and conditions
The pitch at the Basin Reserve in Wellington isn’t overly a belter for batting. The average score at the venue is 225 in the 29 games at the venue. The Kiwis might want to bat first and set a target this time around rather than chasing. The playing conditions would be sunny with the temperature around the 19 degrees Celsius-mark.

Probable Top Performers of NZ vs BAN
Martin Guptill (New Zealand)
It goes without saying, Martin Guptill has a truckload of experience under his belt. But in the first two ODIs, he got starts and then perished. In both instances, the pitch didn’t show any signs of demons. With the kind of talent he has, the right-hander is expected to come good in the next game.
Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh)
Tamim Iqbal tried to play attacking cricket in the first ODI, getting out to Trent Boult for 13. In the second game, however, he looked in ominous touch, scoring 78 runs off 108 balls. He was run out courtesy of some tidy footwork from James Neesham. He will be looking to play another knock of substance.
