Pakistan have failed to get going in the 5-match ODI series against New Zealand. They haven’t put up any sort of fight to trouble the Black Caps. The visitors are 4-0 behind in the series and a whitewash may be just around the corner. Pakistan need to produce something dramatic to end the series with a consolation win and salvage pride.

Their top order looks fragile. They have given away wickets cheaply and failed to provide good starts to the team. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed hasn’t had a good time either. Though we saw glimpses here and there, the skipper failed to lead the team from the front. Former Pakistan fast bowler and legend Shoaib Akhtar has slammed Sarfraz for his captaincy during the fourth One-Day International against New Zealand.

Colin de Grandhomme ripped apart the bowling attack to take his team home. He was allowed to play freely and was stroking boundaries at his will.

Many flaws in Sarfraz’s captaincy

I saw many flaws in Sarfraz’s captaincy in this game. Amir did not bowl a bouncer to Grandhomme, who had just come in to bat. There was no slip for Grandhomme, singles were being allowed easily,” said Akhtar, quoted PakPassion.

The cricketer turned analyst praised the New Zealander for his knock of 74 which took life out of the Pakistani attack towards the end of the chase. Nothing has worked in favour of Pakistan this series. If their bowlers have delivered their batsmen fell flat on the face and for once when the batters put up a good total on the board their famed bowling couldn’t defend it.

With the series 4-0 in favour of the Kiwis, the two teams will play their final 50-overs game of the series in Wellington on Friday, January 19. A win here may provide them with some much-needed boost in confidence and momentum heading into the T20I series.
