Match Details:

The 2nd Test match of the West Indies Tour to New Zealand will be played between the two teams at the Basin Reserve ground in Wellington.

The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM Local Time (03:30 AM IST Dec 11) (10:00 PM GMT Dec 10), and will be streamed live on FanCode.

Preview:

After getting through a comprehensive win in the first match of the two-match series, getting a 1-0 lead, New Zealand will be playing against the West Indies in the second game, which will start on the 11th of December. In the first match of the series, New Zealand started the assault from the start, with the bat in hand.

During the only inning that they batted in, Kane Williamson, the captain of the team was the player in charge of leading the team, as he scored 251 runs off 412 deliveries, which happened to be his personal best score. And, what followed was a dreadful time for the West Indies players as they batted in two consecutive innings, and yet failed to get to the total that the Kiwis set for them. So, coming into this game, the only way out of a series defeat for the West Indies is that they are able to pull off a win, as even a draw will get the New Zealanders, a series win as this match stands to be the decider match.

NZ vs WI Weather Report for Match 2:

The weather in Wellington during the initial stages of the match will be a bit overcast, but conditions will improve over the course of time as the match goes on, with mostly clear skies coming in in the last few days. The temperature will be around what can be considered in the colder spectrum, which is around the 17 degree Celsius mark.

Pitch Report:

The pitch at this venue has made sure that most of the recent games that are played here yield results. And, it will be first two innings of the game that will decide the course of the game overall. If a team gets an upper hand during these two innings, the odds will tilt in their favour for sure.

Average first innings total:

212 (Last 5 Tests played at this venue)

Injury & Availability News:

Shane Dowrich and Kemar Roach from the West Indies will not be available for selection in this game. Both these players are travelling back to their homes due to differing reasons. Shane Dowrich has cited personal reasons, while the pacer Kemar Roach lost his father recently, making him travel back. Shimron Hetmyer is still under observations due to the concussion protocols.

Kane Williamson will not be available for this match as he will be travelling to be with his wife. Will Young will come in at his place to bat. Tom Latham will lead the team in Williamson’s absence.

NZ vs WI Top picks for today’s Dream11 match:

Ross Taylor looked a little rusty in the first match of the series. But, has enormous amounts of experience on his back, which he will surely use to score runs in this match.

Tom Latham complimented his captain, Kane Williamson, perfectly with the bat in hand. He scored 86 runs, making sure that there was support from the other end to Williamson, who was rocking the stage single-handedly with the bat.

Jason Holder, coming into this series was a prospect of the West Indies team that everyone was looking forward though. Even though he went wicketless and was able to score only a handful of runs, he still stands as a viable threat to the New Zealand team.

Jermaine Blackwood was the most successful batsman for his team in the first match of the series, where he led the batting attack scoring 127 runs in 2 innings at an average of 63.00 and kept the hopes for his team afloat for the time he was on the crease.

Expert Advice:

In your grand/mega league team, make sure to deck out your points across all the categories of players. Make sure to include at least three all-rounders in your team and the same number of batters. In the bowlers’ section, you can include 4 players, as they have been in good form so far and will be getting some help from this surface too. Your multipliers in both the teams should be the batsmen preferably, with Jason Holder, being a viable choice from the all-rounders’ section.
