Match Details:
The 2nd game of the Oman Pentangular T20I Series, 2019 will be played between Ireland and Netherlands at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1) in Al Amarat.
The match starts at 1:30 PM local time (9:30 AM GMT) (3:00 PM IST).
Preview:
Ireland, fresh of a T20I Tri-series win at home, will feature in the Oman Pentangular T20I series starting on Saturday. This is a perfect warm-up for the Men’s T20 CWC Qualifiers which is due to start a week after completion of this tournament. Ireland’s first match in the tournament will be against the Netherlands in Al Amarat after the hosts Oman faces Hong Kong on Saturday morning.
The Netherlands has a strong line-up but have failed to convert the quality into results. However, they can take confidence from the 6-wicket win over the Irish team in that Tri-series. The likes of Colin Ackermann and Ryan ten Doeschate will be joining the Dutch team. Ackermann, the former South Africa U19s all-rounder, recently became the first player to take a 7-wicket haul in T20 history.
Weather Condition/Report:
Saturday is expected to be sunny in Al Amarat but there could be periodic cloud covering between 11 AM and 2 PM. This could result in showers but the chances are quite less.
Pitch Condition/Report:
The Al Amerat Cricket Ground has seen big chases even during the afternoon games played on used tracks. This shows how good the pitches at this venue are helpful to the batsmen. Only the teams with poor batting are likely to struggle here while chasing. Both Ireland and Netherlands have players who can bat well until No.9.
Average first innings score: 152 (Last 4 T20Is played in the afternoon)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 3, Lost – 1

Top Picks:
2019 has been Paul Stirling’s best year in both ODIs and T20Is for Ireland. He would like to continue that format in the remaining games as well. Colin Ackermann is good at scoring 30s regularly and would be hoping to make an impact with the ball if there is any help from the pitch. Max O’Dowd has scored four fifties in 11 T20Is this year. Pieter Seelaar exhibited his bating skills in the T20I Tri-series with an unbeaten 96. Gareth Delany might be pushed down with the return of Stirling as Delany opened the innings during the Tri-series at home.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Paul Stirling, Colin Ackermann, Andrew Balbirnie, Pieter Seelaar.
Vice-Captain – Max O’Dowd, Kevin O’Brien, Tobias Visée, Mark Adair.
Andrew Balbirnie has scored 204 runs from his last five T20I innings at an average of 51. His least score among those five innings reads 20. Hence, he will be a good choice as a multiplier.
