Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are facing the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 8th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). While the Punjab side opened their account in their opening game itself, KKR lost their previous game against RCB after trumping CSK in the season opener. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will be aiming to return to the winning ways and have already taken one step towards it by winning the toss.

The KKR skipper had no hesitation in bowling first given the impact the dew has played later in the game. KKR also made one change to their line-up from the previous game. The team decided to strengthen their bowling with the inclusion of Shivam Mavi. But the man making way for him was the wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson who did an excellent job behind the stumps in the last two matches.

He had stumped Robin Uthappa in the first match with his quick hands which had even prompted Sachin Tendulkar to tweet about it. He impressed with the gloves for the rest of the game and he continued his performance against RCB as well taking an excellent catch to dismiss Sherfane Rutherford at a crucial stage of a low-scoring game.

Sheldon Jackson got his first chance after IPL 2017

Sheldon Jackson was bought by KKR for an amount of INR 60 lakh in the mega auction. More importantly, the Saurashtra player got a chance in the playing XI in the season opener against CSK and it was his first game in the IPL since the 2017 edition. Jackson has been a consistent run-scorer in the domestic circuit, especially in the shortest format and he had finally got an opportunity to showcase his skills.

While his wicketkeeping skills were lauded by many, the 35-year-old didn’t get many balls to bat in the first match. He only came out after Sam Billings got out in the 18th over and remained unbeaten on three runs. However, in the previous game, Sheldon Jackson bagged a golden duck with Wanindu Hasaranga breaching his defences.

Having said that, the man should’ve got more chances with the bat before being dropped according to Twitterati as they expressed their disappointment on the same.
