Rashid Khan hasn’t taken any backward step ever since he forayed into international cricket back in October 2015. He has been a daunting prospect for the opposition, especially in white-ball cricket in which he already has over 300 wickets. He recently played for Afghanistan in the 2018 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and picked up 10 wickets in five matches.

Moreover, he was the joint highest wicket-taker along with Bangladeshi fast-bowler Mustafizur Rahman and Indian chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav. More importantly, he conceded runs at an economy rate of 3.72 with best figures of 3/46 against Pakistan at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, he also put forth his stupendous prowess with the willow in hand.

Rashid keeps glowing

In the second Group B match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi, Rashid came into his own and notched his third half-century in ODI cricket. He came to bat with his team in dire straits and turned up with a knock of 57 runs from 32 balls with the help of eight boundaries and a six off Rubel Hossain. The 20-year-old ended the event with 87 runs at an average of 43.50.

To add to his delight, he recently toppled Shakib Al Hasan as the leading all-rounder in ODIs as per the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council.  Apart from that, he is also the second-ranked bowler in the 50-overs format and the top-ranked bowler in T20I. Following the achievement, Rashid expressed his delight and thanked his supporters for the prayers.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Today I’m privileged & very happy for the @ICC All-Rounder No: ODI Bowler NO: & T20 Bowler No: World Ranking. High achievement usually takes place in the framework of high expectation & optimism is the faith that leads. Thank you for all your prayers.”
