While the Telangana government showered rewards on the Indian Women’s team skipper Mithali Raj and her coach RSR Murthy who hail from Hyderabad for achieving success at the recently concluded Women’s World Cup with 1 crore and 25 lakhs respectively, the video analyst of the team during the tournament, Aarti Nalge, who also hails from Hyderabad didn’t get any recognition.

Despite all this, the analyst who played a key part in the success of the Indian Women’s team is happy that she was a part of the team and had a hand to lead in the team’s road to the final of the mega event. She said that it was her first World Cup with the team having worked with them for the last three years and proved to be a good experience.

“I was excited when I got the opportunity and I have been with the Indian team for the last three years. This is my first World Cup and it was a good experience. My dream has come true to be part of the World Cup team,” said the video analyst of the Indian team.

Explaining their strategy and plans before taking on defending champions Australians in the semis, Aarti stated that they had precisely planned to score a minimum of 270 runs but once the match was reduced to 42 overs a side, she told the team that 220 won’t be enough. India posted 282/3 in the game thanks to a brilliant knock from Harmanpreet Kaur and won the game quite convincingly.

“Of course, Harmanpreet Kaur batted exceptionally in that match. We had in mind a score of 220 would not hold good for us and so we targeted above 270. We had an idea about that match and it rained. We got to know that it was a 42-over match and I clearly told that 220 would not be enough. We had planned to score over 270 and that was winning target in the end,” she explained.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Aarti Nalge explained the efforts they had put in before and during the tournament. “I have to track the players of other teams as I had to present the strongest and weakest points. Collecting videos was one big job. We have to create a wagon wheel for each player. We have to strategize what needs to be done for a particular bowler or a batsman,” she said.

“I took out the data of all the teams. It was match by match. Our target was to reach the semifinals. I prepared videos of each match and each individual. We had team meeting one day before the match and prepared the wagon wheel. It was all exciting stuff. I could see the passion and hunger for a win among the team members,” Aarti added.
