Match 4 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 will see arch-rivals India and Pakistan lock horns at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 6. Having finished as the runners-up in the 2005 and 2017 editions respectively, the Indian team would be hoping to go one step ahead this time around and stake their claim on the coveted trophy. Pakistan, on the other hand, are yet to make a semifinal appearance as, the best that they could achieve was a fifth-place finish in 2009.
Head to Head record:
As far as One-Day Internationals are concerned, both teams have faced each other on 10 occasions with the Women in Blue coming out on top each time. The scenario is also the same in the 50-overs World Cup meetings with Pakistan unable to register even a single win under their belt in the three encounters between both sides in the quadrennial event so far in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

Last World Cup meeting:
India got the better of Pakistan in a low-scoring thriller when both sides had locked horns in the round-robin match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 at Derby’s County Ground on July 2, 2017. Even though Indian skipper Mithali Raj won the toss and elected to bat first, the Indian batters failed to apply themselves as left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu ran through their batting lineup with figures of 4/26 from her 10 overs including a maiden at an economy of 2.60 as the Women In Blue were restricted to 169/9 from their 50 overs.
It could have been a regulation chase for Pakistan but, they were under pressure right from the beginning as Ekta Bisht’s match-winning fifer skittled them for just 74 in the 39th over as the Indian eves emerged triumphant by 95 runs.
