The Pakistan bowlers were well and truly on song in the first ODI at the Gabba in Brisbane as the Australian batting capitulated to some impressive bowling. Of course, one can certainly go on to agree with the fact that the wicket at the Woolloongabba certainly was offering a lot for the pacers, Pakistan has been producing bowlers to exploit these conditions.

The first wicket to fall was that of David Warner, who has been in fine form of late. This was a clear case of getting the ball in the right areas, meaning that Warner could not survive the toe-crusher from Mohammad Amir.

After the pacers left-arm spinner Imad Wasim also got into the act and claimed two quick wickets.

Steve Smith also dismissed to the outswing of Amir as the batting order was exposed to the raw pace of Amir and Hasan Ali. Azhar Ali took a massive gamble by bringing on Imad Wasim early on in the innings. Imad Wasim was able to take the wickets initially as the Pakistanis consolidated their position.

At one point in time, even the Pakistanis were sniffing victory early on in the match. At 5/78, it was up to Mohammad Amir and others to ensure that the visitors could close out the innings as soon as possible.

However, this was not meant to be as Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell had other plans. These other plans also went on to ensure that there was little or no collapse. In fact, in somewhat of a double irony, there was a massive collapse when it came to the Pakistan batting innings as the Aussies went ahead and claimed an impressive 92-run win.
