The Lahore Qalandars are currently in the UAE playing the Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. The tournament is a six-team one and features some of the top teams from different T20 leagues around the world. The Qalandars squad is a mixture of both youth and experienced players as the management decided to field a majority of player development programme talent in this tournament.

This was done so as to provide the youngsters with an opportunity to showcase their talent. For the same reason, the Pakistan chief selector is in the UAE to keep a close eye on some of these budding talents. However, this did not go well with many. Cricket analyst and journalist, Mazher Arshad is among those and seems to be highly frustrated with the selectors’ attitude.

No respect for domestic cricket tweets Mazher Arshad

The Pakistan team has had a few troubles playing against the top nations in the recent times. Hailed to be one of the favourites in the recently concluded Asia Cup, their exit was utterly disappointing. This has brought out severe criticism and there are a few problems that need to be addressed. The premier first-class tournament which is being played in Pakistan currently could provide a solution to some of these issues.

The young players, brimming with immense talent are knocking the doors of the national team. There have been some bright performances which are quite pleasing. However, the chief selector himself is not present in the country to witness some of the top-notch performances. This has agitated Mazher and he vented out his frustration on Twitter. He wrote that the selectors aren’t giving any respect to domestic cricket.

“While the premier first-class tournament is on in Pakistan and various players are knocking at the doors of selectors, the chief selector is busy in Abu Dhabi with Lahore Qalandars. #NoRespectForDomesticCricket,” he tweeted.
