The revival of international cricket in Pakistan began with the final of Pakistan Super League 2 last year, which was held in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium amidst top-notch security and was a successful event with no casualties being reported and the overseas players too were satisfied with their one-day trip to the war-torn country. This led to a world xi touring Pakistan last year in what was another successful series played at the same venue – Lahore.

Following this, the playoffs and the finals of the on-going PSL 3 have been shifted to Lahore and Karachi from the UAE. The revival process of cricket in the country thus looks promising. And to add to that, West Indies agreed to tour the cricket-starved country for three T20Is which were initially scheduled for 1st, 2nd, and 4th April, but the dates have now been changed to 1st, 2nd and 3rd April – which means three games will be played on three consecutive days.

No match on former PM’s birthday

The change in the dates has been made on request of the Sindh Government. According to an official of PCB, the date has been changed so that there is no game on the birth anniversary of former Pakistan PM Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

“The dates have been adjusted so that there is no match on the occasion of the anniversary of former PM of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on April 4th,” said an official of PCB.

“This has been done on the advice of the Sindh Government,” the official added.

Karachi to host all three T20Is

West Indies are the reigning World Twenty20 champions after winning the WLT20 in 2016 and thus the contest between both the teams looks promising. Earlier, Lahore was selected as the venue of the West Indies matches but later Karachi was declared safe by international security experts which is why all the three T20Is will be played in Karachi.
