Pakistan cricketers share their condolences post Sridevi's death

India mourned yesterday as it lost one of its iconic Bollywood actresses of the country. The sudden demise of Sridevi on Sunday sent shockwaves across the nation. The actor, aged 54, died due to a sudden cardiac arrest in Dubai, where she had gone to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding.

Not only Bollywood personalities but also Indian sportspersons sent their condolences to the family through social media. Pakistani cricketers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar also joined in and conveyed their condolences.

Younis took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Sridevi’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family #RIP.”

India’s greatest actress in 100 years

Arguably one of the greatest personalities in the film industry the entire world was mesmerized by Sridevi’s beauty.  She was voted ‘India’s Greatest Actress in 100 Years’ in a CNN-IBN national poll conducted in 2013 on the occasion of the centenary of Indian cinema.

Ever since her debut in the mainstream industry, Sridevi has given many iconic films in her stellar career as an actor. She went on to became one of the most sought-after figures in the Indian film industry and was also awarded the prestigious Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award. Apart from Bollywood, the Tamil Nadu-born heroine also plied her trade in Telegu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

She has played lead roles in some of the hit films like “Sadma”, “Lamhe” “Mr India”, “Chandni” and “Himmatwala”. She made her comeback in 2012 with Gauri Shinde’s movie with “English Vinglish”

Sridevi was seen in last year’s revenge-drama “Mom” opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. She also played a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film “Zero” which was scheduled to release this December.

Sridevi is now survived by husband Boney Kapoor and her two daughters Janhvi and Khushi.
