Pakistan jersey with India skipper MS Dhoni's name pops up in Melbourne

When Pakistan took on Australia in Melbourne, there was a bevvy of Pakistani fans in the vast expanse of the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Of course, there are always the overseas as well as the traveling fans present across the globe for the most part. What was impressive to witness was the fact that there was a certain hope across the ground for all the fans of the Asian giants present given the fact that they have been impressive in Test matches in the past year.

Moreover, evidence of the same can be found in the fact that they scaled the summit of the ICC Test Rankings earlier this year. Although they were dethroned a few weeks later, there was a boom in the fan following of the Pakistan cricket team. It was also purely out of the belief in their cricket team that has also seen the fan following increase to astronomical figures.

However, one of the most touching aspects as far as bilateral ties between India and Pakistan are concerned was a fan at the MCG who sported a Pakistan jersey with Indian limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s name and jersey number at the back of it.

While in recent times, MS Dhoni has been away from cricket and has had his movie being a massive boom in the entire ordeal of the box office within both the Indian subcontinent and abroad, there is a certain fan following that the incumbent Indian skipper has got behind him.

Yet, the significance of that one fan who braved a plethora of hatred from Pakistan and India with fans from both sides sporting opposite jerseys. With the political situation between the two nations getting sour by the day, the two fans who have donned the shirts of the opposing neighbors have been reprimanded and subsequently imprisoned.

However, the fact that some fan has chosen to don the jersey has certainly been one that erases a bit of the taboo, to say the least.
