After months of hard work, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally managed to get a go-ahead from the Pakistan government to host the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. The final is scheduled to be played on March 5 and today the Law Minister of the Punjab province Rana Sanaullah said that the government has approved the request for hosting the match.

As per Express News he confirmed that the final will start at 7:30 pm and also assured the participating teams’ foolproof security. There was a serious concern over the willingness of the players and franchises to play the big final in Lahore since the city has been a target of terrorists for over a couple of times in recent times. Earlier this week PSL chairman Najam Sethi after a meeting with the teams had Tweeted, “PSL management and franchisees resolve By to hold final in Lahore,”

In a statement released to the media, Sethi said, “It has been heart-warming to see the dedication of all the owners … this final will be the first step in opening the gates to international teams starting to make the journey again. “We are all committed to this mission and wish to have a thoroughly entertaining final where it should happen – in Lahore.”

The PCB in its statement said, “All the team owners took time to reinforce their solidarity and conviction with the decision of taking the final of the PSL back to its rightful home, the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium, Lahore.”

Tony Irish, Chairman of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Association FICA said, “The advice from our security consultants remains that there is heightened security risk for foreign players playing in Pakistan, including Lahore. It is up to each player to make a decision on whether or not he wishes to play in the PSL final in Lahore.”

Sethi was also heard on a Pakistani news channel saying that the sale of tickets for the final will start from February 28.
