The game of cricket has been a witness to some innovative changes over the years. The illustrious sport has definitely evolved with the new innovations. From rules to the introduction of new formats, the sport has managed to remain in synch with the dynamics in order to capture the imagination of the fans. However, any experiment surrounding the cricket pitch hasn’t come to the fore yet.

Pakistani cricket is in the middle of a tumultuous phase and is struggling to resurrect their tarnished reputation as a cricketing nation. The Sri Lankan team bus was attacked in 2009 following which tours by foreign teams to the nation came to a halt. International cricket eventually came back to the war-stricken nation when Zimbabwe visited them for a limited-overs series.

A number of teams including the World XI and the Windies have already visited Pakistan. Meanwhile, their management is trying their hearts out to restore their reputation of cricket. They have set up a new AstroTurf Stadium at Chaman in Balochistan, which is the first venue of its kind. Nevertheless, more time may be needed for the ground to get international status.

Here are some pictures

The AstroTurf is a renowned brand of an artificial playing surface. The initial product was a short-pile synthetic turf. Since the 2000’s the brand has introduced systems that use infill materials in order to replicate natural grass. Such turfs are generally used to avoid the cost of laying and ground maintenance. It’s also used to maximise hours of usage.

The thought is expected to be a feather in the hat of a somewhat controversial cricketing history for Pakistan. The team recently completed their tour of England and will now play versus Scotland in a couple of T20Is. Thereafter, they will take part in a T20I tournament involving Australia and Zimbabwe.
