Pakistan team charged for slow over rate, Imran Khan rebuked for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct: The Pakistan cricket team won the second test match against Bangladesh at Mirpur and grab the two test match series 1-0. But Match referee Jeff Crowe decided to fine the side for maintaining a slow over rate. They were found to be a couple of over’s behind the target.

Skipper paid the heaviest price as he was charged 40% off his match fees, while other members of the Pakistan team had a 10% deduction in their respective fees’.

Pakistan has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second Test match against Bangladesh at Mirpur which concluded on Saturday.

Along with that Pakistan player Imran Khan was rebuked for breaching the ICCCOC level 1, as he was found guilty of giving Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal an aggressive send off when the batsman got dismissed on his bowling.

Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fine after Misbah-ul-Haq’s side was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, Misbah was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while his players received 20 per cent fines. Misbah pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Imran Khan has been reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the 328-run victory on Saturday.

The offence happened on the final day of the Test when Imran dismissed Tamim Iqbal and subsequently appeared to “give the batsman an aggressive and continued send-off”. The Pakistan opening bowler was found to have breached Article2.1.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game”.

Imran admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Jeff Crowe. As such, there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charges were levelled by on-field umpires from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees Nigel Llong and Paul Reiffel, as well as third umpire Ranmore Martinesz.

All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee.
