West Indies ended their 13 match streak without a win in Test cricket by defeating Pakistan in UAE, which proved a bit too tough for teams like England and Australia. Kraigg Brathwaite with unbeaten knocks in both innings helped his side to end their substandard record away from home in the longest format.

Jason Holder delivered with the ball for the first time helping himself to register his first Test win as captain. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

0 – Number of times West Indies lost while chasing a target less than 200 in 4th innings in Tests. This is the 52nd time they chased down a target under 200 while 6 ended in a draw.

1 – Kraigg Brathwaite became the first player ever to remain unbeaten in both innings of a Test as an opener.

3 – Asad Shafiq became the 3rd top order batsman to record a pair twice in a calendar year. Mohinder Amarnath in 1983 and Mark Waugh in 1992 are the other two.

3 – West Indies’ win in this Test is only their 3rd away Test win since 1998 excluding vs Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. They won vs England in 2000 and vs South Africa in 2007 in this period.

3 – Number of man of the series awards Yasir Shah has received in Test cricket, joint most for a Pakistani spinner. Saeed Ajmal also received 3 series awards in this format.

4 – Balls taken by Pakistan to lose its first two wickets in the first innings of the Test. This is the first times two wickets fell in first 4 balls of a Test match. (Where ball by ball data is known)

4 – Number of man of the match awards Kraigg Brathwaite has received in Test cricket. Since his debut, no West Indian has more than 3 such awards.

5 – Kraigg Brathwaite is only the 5th West Indian opener to carry his bat in Tests. Overall, this is the 7th instance of a West Indian carrying his bat in Tests.

5/88 – Wahab Riaz’s bowling figures of 5/88 in the first innings of this Test are his 2nd best figures in Test cricket. His best figures and the only other 5-fer in Tests was 5/66 on his debut vs England in 2010.

6 – Jason Holder’s 5/30 in Pakistan’s 2nd inning was his first ever 5-wicket haul in Tests. He became only the 6th West Indies captain to take a 5-fer in Test cricket.

12 – Matches taken by Jason Holder to register his first win as captain, most by a West Indian captain and 4th most overall. Kapil Dev holds the record as his first win as captain came in his 21st Test.

14 – First time in 14 Tests, West Indies took a first innings lead while batting second. Last time they did that was against New Zealand in 2014 at Bridgetown.

20 – Wickets taken by pacers in this Test, joint 2nd most in the 26 Tests played in UAE since 2010. Pak-SL Test in 2014 at Dubai witnessed 21 wickets fall to the pacers.

116 – Wickets taken by Yasir Shah in Tests so far, the most by any bowler in his first 19 Tests. George Lohmann and Sydney Barnes also took 112 wickets in the 18 Tests they played.

281 – Pakistan’s total in the first innings is the 2nd lowest in Test cricket to include 4 individual fifty plus scores. New Zealand’s 275 vs Pakistan in 2011 is the lowest score.

696 – Minutes batted by Kraigg Brathwaite is this Test, the joint 6th most time spent by any player without getting out in a Test. Among West Indians, only Brian Lara (778 mins during his 400*) batted more than Brathwaite in a Test without getting out.

2012 – Last time before this Test, West Indies won an away Test match was against Bangladesh in 2012 at Khulna.

6845 – Balls bowled in this Test series, the most in a 3-match Test series which had result in all the games since Aus-SA Test series in 2008/09. 7458 balls were delivered in that Test series.
