Pakistan are set to host New Zealand in a full-fledged white-ball series, starting from September 17. The tour comprises three ODIs and five T20Is with the matches taking place in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Notably, the Kiwi team will travel to Pakistan for the first time since 2003 and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would want the series to be conducted smoothly.

Notably, three floors and over 225 rooms at a seven-star hotel in Rawalpindi have been allocated to team members, officials and support staff for the ODI series. While the Blackcaps will land in the city on September 11, Pakistan players will enter the hotel on September 8. These arrangements have been made for the safety and well-being of players and staff amid the COVID-19 virus.

All three floors will be part of a bio-secure bubble: Hotel executive

“Around 220 rooms on three different floors have been allocated for the bio-secure environment. These rooms and floors are solely meant for the cricket series between Pakistan and New Zealand. We have never booked rooms in such a number on any occasion. All three floors will be part of a bio-secure bubble,” one of the hotel executives told ‘The News’.

“The hotel staff will also be part of the bio-secure bubble. These staff members will serve teams and stay within the same secure environment till the departure of the teams to Lahore,” the official added.

Meanwhile, the upcoming T20I series holds great significance for both teams. With the T20 World Cup 2021 taking place in October-November, both series would be viewing this series as a great preparation opportunity. Notably, many New Zealand players including Kane Williamson and Trent Boult won’t take part in this series in order to participate in the second leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

With the Kiwis having a depleted squad, Babar Azam’s men would back themselves to emerge victoriously. Notably, Pakistan’s last T20I assignment was a four-match series in West Indies last month. While three games got washed out due to rain, the Men in Green walked away with a seven-run in the other game. Speaking of New Zealand, they are currently locking horns with Bangladesh in a five-match T20I series.
