Pakistan is playing New Zealand in the 2nd ODI on Friday. However, just before the match has begun, the home side was struck with a huge blow. Left-arm pacer Junaid Khan was ruled out of the game due to an injury. Furthermore, he will also be missing the third ODI as well.

As per the team physio, Junaid Khan caught up an infection on his second toe finger of his right foot. Hence, it will take some time for him to recover fully. This announcement was made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on their official Twitter handle.

‘Junaid Khan has suffered pain on his right foot toe to which physio has examined. According to Team Physio, he got infection in his second toe finger of his right foot. Junaid has been ruled out from today’s match and third ODI against New Zealand,’ it was mentioned in the official tweet.

Replacement not yet announced

Although he is ruled out for two games, the PCB has not yet named his replacement. Junaid failed to get among the wickets in the first ODI which the hosts lost by 47 runs. His nine overs in that game included a maiden. However, he was quite expensive and conceded 56 runs.

The Pakistan team has found it tough in the ODI format in recent times. After the triumph against Zimbabwe, the side’s performances haven’t reached expectations. They failed to deliver in the Asia Cup and were kicked out in the super-four stage. For the second ODI, the Pakistan side replaced him with Faheem Ashraf in the XI. The visitors have won the toss and opted to bat first and will go in with an unchanged side.
