Pakistan warm up game against Bengal scrapped due to delayed departure

The first warm-up game between Pakistan and Bengal scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens has been scrapped following suspense continued over their arrival owing to the security apprehensions of their government and the Cricket Board.

After a much-delayed dialogue between the PCB, the BCCI and the ICC, it now seems as though the Pakistani Cricket team is indeed boarding the flight to Kolkata to feature in the 2016 edition of the World T20.

Domestic side Bengal was scheduled to play Pakistan in a warm-up match o the 12th of March. However, owing to the situation prevailing over the venue details of the Indo-Pak match, the match had to be scrapped. According to sources in Bengal, “Top level meeting is going on most likely they would arrive by tomorrow morning or latest by evening via Dubai,

The marquee fixture between India and Pakistan said to be a marquee fixture in the tournament has already had its fair share of controversy. While all the boards have pointed the finger at each other, Pakistan has sent the team to India following a security assessment on the Eden Gardens.

Due to the unforeseen controversy, the tickets for the match will go live only on the 16th of March. “We’re yet to get the tickets and their stamping and other procedures will take time. Distribution will only start from 16 March,” the source added. Pakistan is also scheduled to face defending champions Sri Lanka in a second warm-up match at Eden Gardens on the 14th of March.
