Pakistani fan takes his life after losing bet on Pakistan match

It seems that fans are taking their madness for the game far too high, resulting in dangerous outcomes for them. Reportedly, a 50-year-old Pakistani man committed suicide after he lost a bet on a cricket match. The man had staked his entire month’s salary on the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh which his team lost.
Muhammad Shafiq, a junior clerk in the Punjab irrigation department, was on Thursday found hanging from a fan in his office, IBN quoted the Dawn online on Friday.
His brother Muhammad Ramzan said that Shafiq had gambled his salary of Rs 30,000 on the match. “My brother committed suicide after losing money on the match.”
Most recently Umar Draz, Virat Kohli’s Pakistani fan, who was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for hoisting of the Indian tricolor atop his house his home in Punjab Province, Pakistan.
Draz, a tailor by profession from Okara district of Punjab province, was produced before a district court and was sent to jail on judicial remand. He was later sentenced to 10 years in jail under section 123-A of Pakistan Penal Code (acts of damaging the sovereignty of the country) and 16 Maintenance of Public Order.
The matter had reached the star Indian batsman through his elder brother. He had commented that they would try to convince the Pakistan government to acquit him from the charges.
A bail plea was filed by his lawyer but it was rejected. Later, a fresh bail plea was filed in the court of additional district and sessions judge Asadullah Siraj. On Friday, the court admitted Draz’s bail plea and ordered him to furnish a surety bond of Rs 50,000.
