The Indian team managed a wonderful run in the ICC World Cup 2019 and reached the semi-finals for the third time in a row and were looking good to make it into the final at Lord’s. However, rain and some resilient New Zealanders managed to stop the Indian charge despite valiant efforts from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

Dhoni who celebrated his 38th birthday a day before the semi-finals and agony was visible on his face when his innings came to an end via a direct hit from Martin Guptill. With his wicket, the hopes of Indian fans also vanished. In the aftermath, many were left contemplating whether this was the last time they were seeing the former captain for the last time on the field in the Blue jersey.

Pakistani minister takes a disgraceful dig at Dhoni

Speculations about Dhoni’s retirement have been doing rounds ever since he was chosen for this mega event and it was even reported that India’s final match of the tournament will be the 38-year-old’s final match for India as well. However, it seems as if India’s neighbours are relishing the fact that they were eliminated from the semi-finals. That because they think India lost the league game to England deliberately to make sure the Men in Green were knocked out.

A Pakistani minister named Fawad Chaudhry retweeted someone who was spewing venom at Dhoni on Twitter. Chaudhry is the Minister for Science and Technology in the Pakistan government and he retweeted that “Dhoni you deserved such disgraceful exit for polluting the gentleman’s game with fixing and bias! #NZvsIND”, which was originally tweeted by Salar Sultanzai.

Pakistan couldn’t bounce back after losing to West Indies in their first match in the tournament where they were bowled out for just 105 runs. Their net-run rate took hit after hit as they lost to India and Australia.

Their marginal win against Afghanistan didn’t help the cause either, and in the end, they had to depend on New Zealand or India to beat England for them to go through. But England beat both the teams and Pakistan was out.
