Promising Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail might have a very tragic and unwanted end to his cricket career. Some serious threat looms over his return to the international cricket now. The primary reason for this is the failed knee surgery that he underwent in Dubai last year. The 27-year-old batsman was advised to undergo a knee surgery by the medical panel of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) last year.

Sohail did exactly that and went under the knife towards the end of 2015. However, when he returned to practice after the surgery was done, he complained of the same recurring pain in his knees again. Now, it is clear that the surgery that he underwent in Dubai was a failed one. The PCB has now advised Haris Sohail to go for a check up in London.

PCB had retained the central contract for Sohail last year despite him being out of action. Haris Sohail has made 22 ODI appearances for Pakistan and his last appearance came in May 2015. He was also a part of the Pakistan team in the 2015 ICC World Cup. The Sialkot batsman is now facing a serious threat to a premature end of a promising career.

Given the form woes that the Pakistan batting is going on at the moment, such end to Haris Sohail will only add to the ever increasing miseries of the struggling batting line-up. “It is sad news that Sohail’s knee operation last year was not successful. The PCB Chairman has now sent him to London for examinations but the picture is not very good about his future,” a PCB source recenly quoted.

He made his ODI and T20I debut for Pakistan against West Indies in 2013. Since then, he represented Pakistan in 22 ODIs and 4 T20Is. He has a prolific first-class record. He has amassed close to 4000 runs in 57 matches with a double ton to his name. He averages 52.01 in first-class cricket. When Haris had arrived at the international scene, he was seen as a good prospect for the national side in all three formats of the game.
