PCB cuts off monthly pension of Sarfaraz Nawaz for breaching players welfare policy

Former Pakistan pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz often gains limelight for making critical comments on Pakistan players and officials. However, this time around, things have certainly not gone well with PCB and they have taken up a hard decision against him. PCB has stopped the monthly pension of the tall pacer owing to the violation he made in the board’s ‘players welfare policy.’

As the announcement from PCB came to the fore, the former pacer who is now settled in the UK has come to action. Nawaz has filed a petition in the local court against the PCB to restore his pension and to clear his arrears. In the same line of events, a source from the board has added that going to court against the board is a clear-cut violation of players’ welfare policy.

Sarfaraz Nawaz has also been cautioned in the past not to tarnish the image of Pakistan cricket: PCB source

“Going to court against the board is a breach of the player’s welfare policy as is constantly criticizing and insulting board officials and players. He has also been cautioned in the past not to tarnish the image of Pakistan cricket,” a source from the board added.

The reliable source also went on to add that Nawaz’s pension has also been cut off in the past as well for making indifferent comments against national team players and board officials. He added that time, the player has to bear the brunt again for tarnishing the image of all Pakistan cricket-related people.

Sarfaraz Nawaz invented the art of reverse swing back in his time

Talking about his career, the former pacer has played 55 Tests and 45 ODIs for Pakistan. He is well remembered for the outstanding spell that he brought into action while playing against Australia in 1979. He took nine wickets in a spell at Melbourne and broke the back of home batters. It has to be noted that he was considered as the advocate of reverse swing bowling. However, as the time in cricket progressed various bowlers came up who aced the art of reverse swing.
