PCB locks horns with UAE cricket board to continue hosting Pakistan matches

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its chairman Najam Sethi has been in talks with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) in recent times so as to allow the Pakistan matches to be played in the Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai venues. At the moment, almost all of the Pakistani international fixtures are played in the UAE along with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well.

Although the final, as well as a few playoff fixtures, were played in Karachi and Lahore earlier this year, there remains a security threat that prevents several internationally acclaimed cricketers from playing in the country.

A joint press release stated that the Pakistan Super League, a tournament that features some of the biggest names in cricket. In addition to this, there is also the matter of the UAE based cricket board hosting their T20 league, a league which does not allow Pakistan players to ply their trade. They are also scheduled to host a T20 and the T10 League from December 10, 2018, to January 10, 2018.

Reports have also surfaced that Najam Sethi is currently in dialogue with the ECB to allow a small time-period between the leagues to allow logistical and marketing efforts for the PSL as well. The timeframe has been allocated as 35 days.

A dearth of cricket in Pakistan continues

Pakistan has seen a very limited quantity of international cricket being played in the country. However, despite all of this, they have managed to ensure that the likes of the West Indies and even Zimbabwe have made the trip to the country. The sanctions have been levied on the country following a terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team bus all those years ago in 2009, something that put significant fear into fellow cricketers as well.
