If the latest reports are to be believed, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is pondering his Test future just 13 Tests after his comeback into the national side following a 5-year gap. Pakistan are in a middle of a grueling Test series in the West Indies with the final Test match to begin on Wednesday.

This match will also mark the closure of inspirational careers of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan – both batting greats of Pakistan. Amir has had a decent series picking 11 wickets in 2 Tests at an average of 15.72. He apparently has discussed his desire to concentrate on limited-overs cricket to get the best out of him.

Talking to PCB on the speculation revealed that even they don’t have any clue about the concerned matter. “That discussion of Amir with his team mates and management had been leaked somehow,” a PCB official told APP. “PCB is unaware of this whole incident but obliviously the team management in West Indies would look into the matter,” he said.

It was the Test format where Amir was found guilty of bowling deliberate no-balls against England in 2010. Still just 25, the left-arm pacer has a long way to go in his international career. Being an out and out pace bowler, maybe the prospect of running in hard in front of empty stadiums is not giving him enough motivation to carry on in the format.

He, though, is set to take part in the swansong Test of Misbah and Younis. With the series at 1-1, Amir needs to bowl his heart out in order to send these two legends on a high and win a first Test series in the West Indies, a country where they have played 7 series since 1958.

Amir has better record in colour clothing as he has picked 50 wickets from 32 ODIs and 34 from 31 T20 internationals with impressive bowling averages of 27.14 and 23.79 respectively as opposed to 92 sticks in 27 games at 31.57.

No official statement has been made by either the player or the PCB and nothing can be confirmed nor denied on Amir’s Test future.
