Players Who Can Succeed MS Dhoni as the Indian Captain: After the series loss against Bangladesh in a rather shameful manner, the eligibility for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to carry on with his role as the skipper of the Indian team in the shorter formats has been put to scrutiny. Some believe that Dhoni’s days as a cricketing captain are over and he must be allowed to play as a player. He would then be able to enjoy his game and also would be able to contribute much for the team as a player.

At the moment, Virat Kohli is leading the test squad while Dhoni is carrying on with his captaincy charges in the shorter formats. It is the split in the captaincy in the national level, which has led to a number of effects, both in the ways of pros and cons. We have seen Australia flourishing as a tremendous cricketing side when Ponting was given charge to lead in the ODIs while Steve Waugh was leading the side in the tests quite glamorously. Also, we have seen how dreadful consequences the English squad had to face when they appointed three different captains in the likes of Cook, Morgan and Broad for three different formats of late.

So, in this note, we would like to draw in the probable and prominent successors for Dhoni in the shorter formats of the game, if at all, these things are thought upon with grave concerns.

Here are the list of Players Who Can Succeed MS Dhoni as the Indian Captain:

1. Virat Kohli:

Obviously, the name which comes first in anyone’s mind is the present test captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli. Kohli has shown his maturity and aggression as a captain in the shorter versions of the game and we have seen tokens of his captaincy skills with RCB in the IPL. Kohli has led the team on a total of 17 matches and has won 14 of them as a matter of fact. His win percentage stands to be 82 percent at the moment. Kohli is undoubtedly a player who can easily lead right from the front as an example and other youngsters might well flourish under such an aggressive yet caring captain.

Also, Raina can boost up the confidence of the entire team and can charge the entire unit merely with his fielding brilliance. Raina, being a brilliant fielder himself, also possesses quite a decent amount of knowledge about field placements. He has led the Indian team in a total of 12 ODIs, of which India managed to win in 6 of them. Raina is surely a healthy option for the job of captaincy.
