Deepak Chahar hogged all the limelight in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh as he took his first six-wicket haul in international cricket along with a brilliant hat-trick. It was a series decider in which the young Indian pacer bowled an extraordinary spell for his team. And, in an interview given on Chahal TV, he revealed the reason behind his recent success.

The right-handed pacer recorded the bowling figures of 3.2-0-7-6 and was given Man of the Match. Coming to the batting, Team India posted a tough total of 174 runs with the help of quickfire knocks coming from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. During the chase, the pace attack of the hosts played an important role in castling down the batting line-up of Tigers’ that helped the Men in Blue in winning the series decider by 30 runs.

Deepak Chahar has his say

In a show hosted by Yuzvendra Chahal, the 27-year-old said that playing in Chennai has taught him to counter the dew factors. He was also questioned about his strategy against Bangladesh in the series decider. In a reply to it, Chahar said that he wanted to force the batters to play shots because the boundaries at VCA stadium are big. Also, he used his variations carefully against Bangladesh batsmen.

“Playing in Chennai, I have now realised how to counter dew and sweat. How to keep my hands clean. At times, rub dry soil in your hands and then bowl (so that hands don’t get slippery). Since the side boundaries (at VCA Stadium) were big and that was the plan that we will have to force the batsman to play shots on the sides. I also wanted to vary the pace as the ball was getting wet because of the dew and it was difficult to grip,” Deepak Chahar said on Chahal TV as quoted by Indian Express.

The young pacer also looked pretty optimistic about his brilliant spell and recited that he was working hard for very long, and on Sunday, the plan was to bowl upfront on a good line-length.

The 27-year-old, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL, also became the first Indian male cricketer to grab a hat-trick in T20Is.
