Phil Simmons, the West Indies head coach on Tuesday said that his team would be banking on Kieron Pollard in the T20I series decider that will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 11. The Caribbean skipper is the part of Mumbai Indians and has a good experience of playing on that wicket. He can well guide the young bowlers in the side in the crucial contest.

West Indies marked an impressive comeback into the three-match T20I series against India by winning the 2nd game played in Trivandrum. The Caribbean side came up with some convincing performances, learning from the mistakes that they committed in the series opener.

Phil Simmons opines on Kieron Pollard’s importance in the T20I series decider

Simmons said that Kieron Pollard has played a lot at this venue and his experience will be invaluable for the young bowlers in the side. Pollard is well aware of the things at Wankhede Stadium due to his IPL exposure. Simmons also talked about the importance of fielding in the match.

According to him, no team can win the games if their players drop catches. The West Indies coach added the fact that after players commit misfield then they usually come up with different excuses and he doesn’t like that thing at all.

“(Kieron) Pollard has played a lot at this venue, the others have not played that much. I think the experience which they have got from here is invaluable and especially the captain (Pollard), as he has been here for 10 years,” Simmons said in the pre-match press conference here.

“You will not win games if you drop them. The players will have to tell you if it is the lights or whether it is their execution or their position. I do not like excuses. I think if you drop a catch it is your fault. You can blame the lights but I think we just have to keep working hard so we do not drop any,” Phill Simmons said as quoted by Business Standards.
