Awards Provided For the Match

  • Hotstar of the Match: Faf Du Plessis, for his acute brilliance on the field. He dismissed Parthiv with a direct shy at the stumps right in the first over to give CSK an early boost. It was an amazing run-out, nothing short of magical, he had very little time to collect and throw the ball but he was somehow able to mange it and get the bails off.
  • Maximum Sixes Award: Kieron Pollard with 3 Sixes. It was Pollard’s cameo that gave cruise control to MI over the game.
  • Man of the Match: Rohit Sharma, for his swaggering innings of 50 runs off 26 deliveries that carved the path of victory in favour of MI.

Other Awards Given:

  • Vodafone 3G Fastest fifty Award- Andre Russell: Russell who scored 50 off 19 deliveries. Although Harbhajan equalled him, Russell broke the tie by possessing a greater strike rate in the season.
  • Kingfisher Fairplay Award – Chennai Super Kings: It was their coach, Stephen Fleming who collected the award for the team. This was the Sixth time that CSK has won this award.
  • Emerging Player of the Season – Shreyas Iyer: Iyer has been brilliant for DD right throughout the season and has scored a total of 439 runs for his team out of 14 matches.
His words after receiving the trophy were as follows, “I got to learn a lot from the seniors. It’s a good feeling that seniors tag me as the emerging player. I just played on my instincts, backed my ability and I knew I had the potential to score the big runs”
  • Yes Bank, Maximum Sixes Award – Chris Gayle: Quite expectedly, Chris Gayle became the owner of this award due to his gigantic performances. The Jamaican topped the list of the six hitters with 38 sixes in the tournament.
  • Best Catch of the Season – Dwayne Bravo: The catch by Bravo, which came in on the match against RR. Bravo caught a stunner at the long on region to dismiss Watson.
  • Most Valuable Player of the Season- Andre Russell: Russell of KKR has been crowned as the most valuable player of the season. Indeed, a few cameo of Russell, in conjunction with some great bowling performances gave the Jamaican this award. Russell scored 326 runs in 14 matches and took14 wickets.
  • Orange Cap Winner – David Warner: Warner with 562 runs in 14 matches with 7 half centuries.
  • Purple Cap Winner – Dwayne Bravo: Bravo with 26 wickets in 17 matches with an average of 16.38, and with best bowling performances of 3/22 in an innings. Bravo’s words in the Ceremony were, “First of all congratulations to the Mumbai Indians for winning the final. That’s the role for me in the team (to bowl at the death). They backed me to deliver in the slog overs. I just want to remind some people that I am still able to perform at the highest level. I missed cricket for two months and was very disappointed. I am happy to perform at this level.”

MS Dhoni collected a cheque of Rs. 10 Crore for being the Runners Up of the tournament. On the presentation ceremony, his words were “’I think they got too many on the board. First over was very good but the second wasn’t and that was the instance when Mumbai Indians gained momentum. The kind of momentum they built from that point, it was difficult for us. We didn’t start well with the bat as well. There was some uneven bounce as the game progressed. They got some extra 10-15 runs and that can put a lot of pressure while chasing. This was more of a team effort. There are a few cricketers in our team who have not played to their potential but we have done well as a team. Losing Brendon McCullum was a big blow, he would have been perfect at the start for us today”

Anurag Thakur Presented the Winning Cheque of Rs. 15 crore to Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma, who was also the Man of the Match said: “It’s always been good here, “Whenever I have come here, I have taken happy memories back. It has been a very good journey. To bounce back from that situation we found ourselves in in the first half is very rare. It has been a great journey. I couldn’t have asked for more. It was important to show character. We knew we had guys who could do that. This is a sweet victory because we came from nowhere, with people writing us off.”

Finally Jagmohan Dalmiya, the BCCI President handed over the IPL 2015 trophy to the MI skipper, Rohit Sharma and that concluded the presentation ceremony.
