India’s white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa after he sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session in Mumbai. Thus, he started his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy on Friday, December 17. However, his presence at the NCA is proving to be a big blessing for India’s Under 19 team.

The Under 19 team is currently preparing at the NCA ahead of the Asia Cup which is scheduled to kick start in the UAE from December 23. Sharma made most of this opportunity and took out some time to address the budding cricketers of the country. He interacted with the Under 19 team and shared a few pearls of wisdom that will help the players in taking on the upcoming challenge.

Sharma’s heroics in white-ball cricket are known to all. The swashbuckling batter has more often than not brought some impressive knocks to the fore in order to put the team in the driver’s seat. In the IPL as well, he has displayed his dominance by leading the Mumbai Indians to five title wins. It is a no-brainer that his experience and intelligence will assist the young cricketers ahead of the multination tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India took it to their official Twitter account to give an update on the same. They shared a few pictures wherein Sharma is seen interacting with the emerging talents at the NCA. “Priceless lessons 👍 👍📸 📸 #TeamIndia white-ball captain @ImRo45 made most of his rehab time as he addressed India’s U19 team during their preparatory camp at the NCA in Bengaluru,” the caption of the post read.

As Sharma was ruled out of the high-profile Test series against the Proteas, India ‘A’ captain Priyank Panchal was named as his replacement in the red ball setup. The opening batter who took charge as India’s full-time T20I skipper from the home series against New Zealand is expected to make his return in the white-ball games against the Proteas.

Sharma started his stint on a positive note as team India won the three-match T20I series 3-0. Thus, as he now takes the responsibility of leading the team in ODIs as well, the cricketing fraternity has already pinned in a lot of hopes on him to deliver results for India.
