Professional cricketer Grant Hodnett, aged 38, began a series of stalking after he got to know that his girlfriend was secretly into the adult modelling industry. It was heard in Warrington Magistrate’s that he forwarded 20 erotic photos of his lover to her family in order to protect her.

The cricketer defended his stance by stating that she was ‘at risk’ and ‘needed help’. The batsman indulged in another silly action by sending derogatory messages to her.

The former Gloucestershire player also branded his ex-girlfriend as a ‘liar and psychopath’ to family and all the near and dear ones. The court also heard that pair indulged in a severe argument after Hodnett got to know about her secret career which led to their breakup.

Prosecutor Lucy Fitch-Adams told in front of the court that how the complainant was presented in the office of a shop where she used to work. The entire sequence of action took place when the cricketer sent them a brown envelope.

The brown envelope contained her erotic pictures, a letter that threw light on her personal life and names of the site for which she did adult modelling. Fitch Adams further stated how his ex feels ‘scared’ as Hodnett’s ‘persistent and unwanted behaviour’ is only increasing day by day.

The cricketer avoided jail for showing good character in the past

As per Ms Adams, “his ex is recovering from alcoholic habits and believes that cricketer is pushing her towards a mental breakdown. She wants his persistent and unwanted behaviour to stop as it is making her life more and miserable,” as quoted by Daily Mail UK. Hodnett of Warrington was proved guilty in the charge of stalking his ex and causing serious alarm or distress.

However, the South African born sportsperson is saved due to a lot of positive references and ‘previous good character.’ In the defence of Hodnett, Mark Haslam pointed a lot of incidents where he displayed a lot of good character. The root of his behaviour was founded as the reason which ended his relationship.

Haplam stated: ‘The defendant accepts that his conduct was not just inappropriate, but totally unacceptable. It was not for him to go on a moral crusade.
