The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have had some severe altercations over the years. Resultantly, both teams haven’t toured each other for quite a while and barring a few matches here and there, they don’t play much against each other either. The Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are reputed tournaments of both nations.

However, cricketers from both countries don’t participate in each other’s league either. Pakistan cricketers took part in the inaugural edition of the IPL, however, following the infamous Mumbai terror attacks, Pakistan has barred its cricketers from playing in the tournament. As far as the PSL is concerned, Indian players haven’t participated in the three editions of the event.

“At least we should try”- Afridi

However, Shahid Afridi of the Karachi Kings has recently expressed his desire to invite their Indian counterparts for the mega event. “But we should at least try to invite them for the PSL. I know it is difficult that they will come as they only play in the Indian Premier League. But we should invite them for the next edition of the PSL,” he said to the media in a  function of his foundation in Lahore.

Afridi also mentioned that the increased number of foreign players coming to Pakistan is a massive thing. Meanwhile, he highlighted the commitment of the overseas cricketers who are taking part in the tournament. “It is a very big step forward, but I also believe that in future only those foreign players should be invited for the PSL who agree to also come and play in Pakistan when required,” he added.

Karachi Kings suffered a couple of body blows during the event. They slumped to defeat against the Islamabad United in the Qualifier. Moreover, they lost Afridi and skipper Imad Wasim owing to a knee injury and concussion respectively. They tried their hearts out in the second eliminator, however, Darren Sammy’s Peshawar Zalmi edged them past to the Final in Karachi.
