The former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis has hoped for the next season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be fully held in its own country. Currently, the third edition of the tournament is going on in the United Arab Emirates as the domestic cricketers of the country are rubbing the shoulders with some of the best cricketers in the world. However, Waqar also believes that things in Pakistan have improved considerably and the international cricket should resume now.
The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi is making a lot of efforts to bring back international cricket to the country. They’ve also arranged the knockouts and the final of PSL in Karachi and Lahore with a handful of foreign cricketers agreeing to travel this time around. Windies cricket team is also set to play three T20 Internationals in Pakistan in April ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Things have definitely improved
Waqar Younis, while speaking to Gulf news, expressed his desire about the T20 league being completely held in Pakistan next year. “Things have definitely improved in Pakistan and hopefully PSL should be going back to Pakistan by next year. This year, we are already staging a few games there,” he said. The 46-year-old also shared his experience as the director and head coach of Multan Sultans.
“Of course different, probably less pressure because it gives me a bit more time to work with the youngsters and also get to know the PSL. It is very enjoyable and also PSL is getting better,” Waqar added and also cleared that he enjoys grooming young cricketers of the country. “It is good fun. It is easier because they are all very professional. They all get paid heavily, they come here to do the job and our job is to get the best out of them,” he concluded.
