Things are getting very interesting as the 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) nears the business end. While Multan Sultans are sitting pretty at the top of the table with nine points from six games, the race is on for the other three spots in the top four.

Lahore Qalandars are currently lying at the bottom of the table with four points from six games. However, they’ve played a couple of games less than a few other teams and have a chance of catching up. After losing three games on the trot, they’ve come back well and have had a couple of convincing wins over the Quetta Gladiators in the last three games. Hence, they will look to build on that momentum.

On the other hand, Karachi Kings have been good in the last week or so. They have chased really well and have won their last two games chasing 184 and 152. They were in a very good position against Multan Sultans as they had the table-toppers down at 102/6 in the 17th over before the rain came down and washed out the game. Hence, they are in good form and will fancy themselves to win this game and continue the momentum.

Pitch and Conditions

There was some turn and bounce evident at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in the last game. However, apart from the last game which was a very low scoring one, the pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium has been a good one to bat on. 165-170 is the par score and teams batting second have had more success at this venue.

Mohammad Hafeez and Ben Dunk have emerged as the top batsmen for the Lahore Qalandars. Hafeez has made 162 runs at an average of 40.50 while Dunk has scored 151 runs at an average of 50.33. Moreover, the wicket-keeper batsman who is batting at No. 4 has a strike-rate of 179.76. Fakhar Zaman has got starts regularly but hasn’t been able to convert them into big scores.

Meanwhile, Samit Patel has done well with the bat but he’s had a bigger impact with the ball. He has picked up seven wickets at an average of 13.14. Shaheen Afridi has been excellent with the ball and has taken eight wickets at an average of 15.25.

The senior bowlers Mohammad Amir and Chris Jordan have taken more responsibility and are at the top of the wicket charts for Karachi Kings. Amir has picked up nine wickets while Jordan has seven wickets to his name. Imad Wasim has been good with both bat and ball.
