Islamabad United won five matches in a row in the league stage to finish as the table-toppers in the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, the Shadab Khan-led unit went down to the Multan Sultans by 31 runs in the Qualifier on Monday, June 21 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

After the Sultans racked up 180 in the first innings, the United batters stuttered. Only southpaw Usman Khawaja showed some fight. Despite the loss, they would be getting another chance to qualify for the playoffs as they are set to face the Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday, June 23 in Abu Dhabi.

The Zalmi are coming off a five-wicket win over the Karachi Kings in Eliminator 1. The game went right down the wire after which Peshawar came out trumps. In their last meeting against the Zalmi, the Zalmi had to bear the brunt of a century from Khawaja and with Islamabad scoring over 240.

Usman Khawaja is in jaw-dropping form as he has notched 245 runs at an average and strike rate of 61.25 and 154.08 respectively. Colin Munro bagged a duck in the previous game.

But keeping in mind the fact that he has notched 241 runs with a top score of 90 should keep his confidence high. Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali have also scored useful runs lower down the order.

In the bowling department, Hasan Ali has 12 wickets- the most by any United bowler. Mohammad Wasim Jr went for a few last time, but with 11 wickets to his name, he hasn’t flattered to deceive by any means.

Hazratullah Zazai has played three games for the Zalmi and he has already made a significant impact with the bat in hand. In three games, he has already notched 140 runs at an incredible strike rate of 215.38.

In the only game against the United, he got a duck and would like to make some amends. Kamran Akmal has also found his rhythm to some extent. Sherfane Rutherford has 258 runs to his name and he would want to make an impact.

In the bowling department, Wahab Riaz has 16 wickets to show for his efforts. Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Irfan have also done their jobs efficiently.
