PSL 2021: Final MUL vs PES Preview, Playing XI Updates, Live Streaming Details & Pitch Report

Multan Sultans didn’t make the greatest of starts to the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). From being placed at the second half of the points table, the team, led by Mohammad Rizwan, came up the ranks and qualified for the playoffs with five wins from their 10 games in the first round.

Thereafter, they got past the Islamabad United by 31 runs in the Qualifier on Monday. Rizwan’s men are now set to play the final on Thursday, June 24 against the Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Wahab.

Just like the Sultans, the Zalmi also got five wins in the league stage but managed to make the playoffs. In their last two matches, the Zalmi beat the Karachi Kings and the United. Against the United, they won by eight wickets with as many as 19 balls to spare.

In the first round, the Zalmi and Sultans beat each other once. A thrilling match seems to be in store on a belter of the batting wicket in Abu Dhabi.

The Sultans have Mohammad Rizwan as their leading run-scorer with 470 runs from 11 matches at an average and strike rate of 47 and 130.19. Though he’s a tad out of touch, he’s expected to step up in the final.

Sohaib Maqsood has looked aggressive, having scored 363 runs at a strike rate of 152.52. Shan Masood has found the going easy and Khushdil Shah should be high on confidence after hitting Mohammad Wasim Jr for four sixes in a row.

In the bowling, Shahnawaz Dhani has picked 20 wickets. Imran Tahir and Imran Khan have also been effective with 10 wickets each to their name.

Hazratullah Zazai has been exceptional for the Zalmi. In four games he has played thus far in the tournament, the southpaw has scored 206 runs at an average and strike rate of 51.50 and 188.99 respectively. Moreover, he has also managed to bag four Player of the Match awards until now.

Sherfane Rutherford and Shoaib Malik have also looked in excellent touch. Jonathan Wells starred with an unbeaten knock of 55 runs on his PSL debut. In the bowling department, Wahab Riaz has done a chunk of the work with 18 wickets. Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Imran have also been decent.
