While cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties, there also come some moments which make the sport interesting and funny at times. After the implementation of the Decision Review System (DRS), the game has no doubt evolved in minimizing the errors of the on-field umpires. But it has also given many players a chance to use the DRS whenever they feel confident of challenging the verdict.
We have seen a lot of instances of players pursuing the captains to go for the DRS even though from a naked eye we feel it’s clearly not out. The main aim of this technology to help teams get their decisions more accurate and to eliminate howlers.
One such horrible DRS incident unfolded in the sixth edition Pakistan Super League (PSL) where Quetta Gladiators opener Jake Weatherald was batting fluently and approaching his half-century.
Naturally, the Lahore Qalandars skipper needed a breakthrough and he approached his go-to-bowler Rashid Khan for a breakthrough. The leg-spinner flighted the ball which seemed a bit fuller on length, to which the batter offered a perfect block that was driven back to the bowler.
As with the DRS, captains generally tend to desperate while taking reviews, and at this time it was the turn of the Qalandars skipper Sohail Akhtar who took the DRS only to be left ruing in the end.

Sohail Akhtar makes a blunder by taking DRS in a PSL match
It was very clear that the batter had made a good connection with the ball and generally the skipper of any opposition team too would not have gone upstairs for a review. But Akhtar felt it otherwise and it really backfired on him and within no time, the video went viral with fans mocking him for the blunder he did.
The trick with DRS is you need to be very careful when taking the decision upstairs as there aren’t many chances you are getting. Also, the role of the wicketkeeper becomes all the more crucial, since he is the one who has a clear view from the back and guides the captain if he thinks he is unsure.
