Islamabad United have been on an absolute rampage in the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). After having a topsy-turvy stint in the first leg, they have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
On Thursday, the United beat Wahab Riaz’s Peshawar Zalmi by 15 runs. On the back of Usman Khawaja’s half-century, the United racked up 247 runs after being put in to bat first. Having won four games in a row, they might rest a few of their key players before the playoffs.
Their next match is against the Multan Sultans in the second of Saturday’s doubleheader. In their previous meeting, the United got the better of the Sultans by three wickets after being asked to chase down 151 in 20 overs.
The Sultans, in the meantime, are in a must-win scenario to make it to the playoffs. The 110-run win over the Quetta Gladiators should give them a lot of confidence.
