Peshawar Zalmi has registered their first victory of PSL 2021. They defeated Multan Sultans by 6 wickets in their second match after losing their initial encounter against Lahore Qalandars. On the other hand, Multan Sultans had to face their second consecutive loss of this season. 

Multan Sultans were invited to bat first after losing the toss, and they had a bad start as opener Chris Lynn got out for only 1 run. However, Mohammad Rizwan and James Vince stitched a brilliant partnership of 82 runs for the second wicket. Vince scored 84 runs off 55 balls including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Multan Sultans Posted a score of 193/4 in 20 overs.

Peshawar Zalmi looked positive in the chase from the very start, and their openers Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal added 57 runs for the first wicket. English batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore who came to bat one down hit a wonderful half-century and ensured victory for his team. He hit 53 runs off 32 balls with the help of 6 fours and 1 six. Peshawar Zalmi won this match by 6 wickets in 19 overs. 

Let’s look at important stats and numbers from the fifth match of PSL 2021:

250 – Kamran Akmal has now completed 250 dismissals in T20 cricket as a wicketkeeper. He is only the second player to do so after MS Dhoni (264).


150 – Kamran Akmal also took his 150th catch as a wicketkeeper in T20 cricket and became only the third player to achieve this feat. MS Dhoni (180) and Dinesh Karthik (171) are ahead of him.


84 – James Vince’s score of 84 in the first innings is the third-highest score by a batsman from Multan Sultans in PSL history. Vince had also played an 84-run knock in the 2019 edition. Only Rilee Rossouw(100*) and Sohaib Maqsood(85*) are ahead of Vince.


197 – Peshawar Zalmi chased down the target of 194 in 19 overs and ended up with 197/4 in the end. This is the second-highest target that Peshawar Zalmi has successfully achieved in PSL.


300 – Haider Ali smocked 24 runs off only 8 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. His strike rate of 300 is the highest ever among batsmen from Peshawar Zalmi in PSL history with a minimum of 20 runs in an innings.


1001 – Rilee Rossouw completed his 1000 runs in PSL during this match and became only the 9th player to reach this milestone. He is the first Proteas player to achieve this feat. He has scored 1001 runs in the league at an average of 34.51 and strike rate of 132.40.
