The Karachi Kings’ Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 campaign has got off to a disastrous start having lost the three games that they have played so far. However, there is some happy news for them as they desperately look to add the first points to their tally as their premier pacer Mohammad Amir has recovered from a hamstring injury that had kept him out of action in the previous few games.

The 2017 Champions Trophy winner would be hoping to make amends with the ball in hand for Karachi as his performances in the PSL have not been up to the mark ever since his shocking retirement from international cricket in December 2020. Karachi’s frontline pacer has literally struggled on home wickets averaging just 36 since 2020. Amir also had a forgettable 2021 season finishing with only five scalps from 11 matches.

Mohammad Amir to feature in Karachi Kings’ next game against Peshawar Zalmi: Reports

As the 2020 winners seek a revival in their fortunes, Amir is reportedly fit to compete, and according to Pakistani newspaper The News International, the left-arm speedster was seen bowling with a lot of energy and enthusiasm during the practice session at the High-Performance Center Karachi and the report further stated that the former Pakistan fast bowler is likely to join the Karachi Kings in their next encounter against last year’s finalists Peshawar Zalmi on Friday, February 4.

The Kings would be heaving a sigh of relief but, it remains to be seen whether Mohammad Amir’s comeback can do some instant damage control as the former champions cannot afford any further loss. They would want their pace sensation to rediscover their rhythm immediately as bowling has been one of the concerns for them apart from batting setbacks, especially middle-order failure. Karachi Kings had suffered a seven-wicket loss against the defending champions Multan Sultans in the season opener before going down to the Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets followed by a six-wicket thumping against the Lahore Qalandars.

As a result of a hat-trick of losses, Karachi finds itself languishing at the bottom of the PSL 2022 points table with a negative net run rate of -0.998. They would be looking to snap their losing streak when they face Peshawar Zalmi.
