The Pakistan Super League (PSL) management is currently in discussion with the franchise owner to pre-pone the proposed date for players draft prior to the third edition of the Pakistan’s T20 league. The PSL draft for the third edition was tentatively scheduled to be held in Lahore on November 10. However, the date now is likely to be pulled back earlier by a couple of weeks.

“Two franchises have suggested that they’ll be busy in November for South Africa’s T20 Global League so the dates for players draft should be brought earlier,” claimed an anonymous source in proximity to the matter, according to Geo TV.

“A final date and procedure for players draft is likely to be announced this week,” further added the source. In the auction for franchises in South Africa’s T20 Global League, two PSL franchises by the name of Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi have already bought couple teams in South Africa’s franchise-based league. The league is scheduled to commence from November 3. The tournament will be overlapping with the schedule of Pakistan’s National T20 competition.

Multan Sultan will pick 9 or 10 players from the draft

The franchises, on the other hand, are in the final phase of retaining and releasing players. October 5 is the cut-off date given to the teams by PSL management to submit the names of players they wish to keep for the next edition.

“Players released by the franchises will go back to draft. Multan Sultan will pick 9 or 10 players, the number is yet to be decided before the draft and Multan’s pre-draft picks will be from the players released by the other franchises,” concluded the same source.

All the franchises are told to release players from all the categories to provide Multan Sultans a level playing field. Wasim Akram would be associated with Sultans the next season. The defending champions for the next season three would be the Peshawar Zalmis.
